Extended hours at Torquay Library during heatwave

31 January 2025

Torquay Library will be a cool escape from the upcoming forecasted heat and will open for longer from Sunday to Tuesday. Together with Surf Coast Shire Council, we're extending opening times hours during this period.

The library's temporary opening hours will be as follows:

  • Sunday 2 February – 1.30pm-6pm
  • Monday 3 February – 10am-6pm
  • Tuesday 4 February – 10am-6pm

The Bureau of Meteorology forecasts temperatures on the Surf Coast to reach 37 on Sunday, 38 on Monday and 38 again on Tuesday.

Spending as much time as possible in cool or air-conditioned buildings like our library spaces is an easy, safe and free option to avoid the heat. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to use our library spaces as a retreat, regardless of whether you're a member.
