Food 4 Future is series of free workshops, funded by VicHealth, designed to help young people build essential life skills related to food.
Running every school holidays at Newcomb, Biyal-a Armstrong Creek, and Corio libraries, these 3 x free workshops teach meal planning, budgeting, shopping, and cooking in a fun and supportive environment. Participants can also gain a TAFE food handling certificate to boost their employability.
Workshops include: Food Around You – Enjoy free food and a take home meal from Feed Me while learning about food access and create an individual local food map. Food Handling Certificate – Complete a free TAFE-accredited certificate from The Gordon, with pre-session modules and a take-home kitchen kit. How to Make a Meal – Learn how to meal prep and budget with a take home a fresh veggie box and recipes from Common Ground..
Workshops are open to young people aged 15–24, with food and snacks provided. Attendees will also take home: • A prepared meal • A basic kitchen kit • A fresh veggie box to continue their learning at home.
