Support the library summer food drive

Friday 15 November 2024

The lead up to Christmas can be a time filled with joy and excitement. However, for many people this year it’s going to be tough.

We are proud to partner with Geelong Foodshare (previously Geelong Food Relief Centre) on Thursday 12 December to give you the opportunity to donate perishable items this year, for the Summer Food Drive.

We’re calling on home gardeners, community gardens, school gardens, and hobby farmers to donate freshly picked produce like:

  • Homegrown tomatoes
  • Zucchini
  • Leafy greens
  • Berries
  • Melons
  • Stone fruits

To help the 1 in 3 Greater Geelong residents who are struggling to afford food.

If you don’t have access to home grown produce, you can pop into your favourite local food store and come to the designated libraries to donate.

Please remember, we can only accept fruits and vegetables—no eggs, dairy, or meat due to food safety requirements.

On Thursday 12 December the following libraries are accepting donations of fresh produce at these times:

Ocean Grove      9:00-10:30am

Torquay            11:30-1:00pm

Belmont            2:00-3:30pm

Colac                11:00-12:30pm

Geelong West   2:00-3:30pm

Donated fresh produce will need to be dropped off within the times listed, donations outside of these hours cannot be accommodated for.
Thank you in advance to our community for donating generously.
