Thursday 30 July 2020
From late August 2020, we will be introducing new ways for you to find out about what’s going on at the library.
These exciting changes will make it easier for you to find out about the library events, programs and services which interest you, and will simplify the event booking process online. Some of the changes you can expect to see, include:
New functionality on these pages will allow you to search and filter for library events and programs that interest you. You will also be able to create, download and print customised event calendars! Booking into library events online will be simpler, too. (Top tip: for the best possible experience, make sure you are a member of Geelong Regional Libraries. If you don’t have a membership card, why not join up for free now?)
While we know many of your find out about library events and programs online, we understand that some people prefer to browse our printed What’s On brochure. From late August, we will be launching a new-look, sleeker event highlights program. This smaller printed program will be easier to navigate and will help us to minimise our impact on the environment. It will be published every two months. As we are currently running events online, our first edition of the brochure will be a digital one - in future, it will be available to pick up in branches. (Top tip: You will always be able to speak with a staff member at your local branch if you would like details of events or programs not listed in the program. They will be happy to help!)
We will be revamping our monthly eNewsletter with a fresh new look and a new layout which better meets the needs of subscribers. (Top tip: our monthly eNewsletter is the best way to stay up-to-date with news and events at the library. Scroll to the bottom of the page to subscribe now!)
The first-ever GRLC library app will enable library members to search the library catalogue, borrow and place holds, book into events, view library account details, book meeting rooms and more… all from the convenience of your mobile device. It will be like having the library in your pocket! Stay tuned for more information.
We realise that change can sometimes be difficult, which is why we will be on-hand to help you. Library staff will be ready to assist you to search for events on the website, use the library app, print customised event calendars or book you into events or programs.
A message about the What’s on at the Library brochure:
Due to Coronavirus (COVID-19), all ‘in person’ library events and programs remain suspended until further notice. As such, you will not see theWhat’s On brochure in branches for the time-being. Please continue to check our website for details of our online events and programs, and updates about changes to services during the pandemic.
