Bringing simplicity to the library’s digital collection

From Friday 1 May 2020, the library’s collection of more than 18,000 eBook and eAudiobooks – currently available via three different platforms – will be accessible from one convenient app.

While Geelong Regional Libraries’ members already had access to BorrowBox, making all eBook and eAudiobook items available on one platform will answer the community’s call for a simpler way to read or listen to their favourite books.

Cr Ron Nelson, Chair of the Geelong Regional Library Corporation (GRLC), says that this action demonstrates the organisation’s focus on continuous improvement.

“Moving to one eBook platform demonstrates our commitment to making sure the service we offer reflects what people want and need,” he says.

“GRLC continues to demonstrate community focus through innovative approaches to providing library services to patrons, even during this difficult time,” says Cr Nelson.

Patti Manolis OAM, Chief Executive Officer of the GRLC, says the decision was all about making things straightforward for patrons, particularly at a time when the library’s eCollection is more popular than ever.

“With an increased demand for our huge range of digital resources, we are keen to ensure we offer our members a great user experience; BorrowBox is elegant and intuitive, and has an unrivalled ease of use.”

“BorrowBox is recognised as the number one library download platform in the world, and the only app of its kind with an inbuilt eBook reader and eAudiobook player.”

“While our other eReading platforms will no longer be available from Friday 1 May, I’d like to reassure our members that all of the eBooks and eAudiobooks that were available on those platforms will be made available in BorrowBox.”

“Despite our library doors being closed at the moment, we will  continue to support our communities to read, explore, learn and expand their world from home,” Ms Manolis concluded.

Whether it’s on a smartphone, tablet or  home computer, BorrowBox allows Geelong Regional Libraries’ members to access eBooks and eAudiobooks for people of all ages, around the clock.

BorrowBox offers titles across many genres, including from big name authors such as Kate Atkinson, Bill Bryson, Ruth Rendell, Kate Morton, Ian McEwan, S.K. Tremayne and Lynda LaPlante, among others.

BorrowBox is easy to download and can be found on the Geelong Regional Libraries eCollections page.
