Food for Fines appeal 2019

Monday 4 November 2019

We are very proud to once again be partnering with the Geelong Food Relief Centre on the Food for Fines appeal.

The appeal will run across all library branches in the Geelong Regional Libraries' network from Monday 18 November until Friday 13 December.

During this period, overdue fines will be waived in return for the donation of non-perishable food items, which will be distributed by the Geelong Food Relief Centre to local people who are doing it tough.

The Geelong Food Relief Centre anticipates that it will provide Emergency Food Relief to around 37,000 individuals throughout our region during 2019/20. Last year a whopping two tonnes of food was donated by Geelong Regional Libraries' members through the Food for Fines appeal, during what is a very busy period for the organisation in the lead up to the festive season.

If you have stopped using the library due to overdue items or fines, Food for Fines provides the perfect opportunity to get back to your local library and start borrowing again!

If you do not have library fines, but would still like to support the appeal, your donation would be gratefully received.

Thank you in advance to all our patrons for donating generously to support the appeal.

  • Donated food items should have an expiration date of May 2020 or later.
  • Please note that fines for damaged or lost collection items are not included in this campaign.
