At its board meeting held Monday 27 November the Geelong Regional Library Corporation (GRLC) Board resolved that the Corporation become a signatory to the City of Greater Geelong’s Prevention of Family Violence Statement of Commitment and join Council and other organisations in taking a city wide approach on this serious but preventable community issue.
The Statement, launched by the City on Thursday 30 November 2017, provides shared principles for the promotion of gender equity and respectful relationships, the development of our organisations and workforces and promotion of access to information. For further details visit: http://bit.ly/2zSyoaX
The Geelong Regional Library Corporation also endorses the Statement on Domestic and Family Violence adopted by the Public Libraries Victoria Network on 6 December 2016. The statement contains information about the many attributes public libraries across Victoria possess that provide practical support to victims of family violence and the potential for an increased role.
