Temporary network and phone outage Friday 24 February

Wednesday 22 February

Geelong Library & Heritage Centre’s internet service provider is performing essential maintenance. This will result in an internet outage affecting some of our services across our network.

The works will occur from Friday 24 February 3pm – Saturday 25 February at 9am.

All phones across our libraries will not work for the duration of the outage

The Geelong Regional Libraries app and Geelong Honours Them website will not work during this time. Some of our regular functions will be affected, particularly internet access at Geelong Library & Heritage Centre.

The impacts will vary depending on location. Please see a breakdown below.

All libraries in our network NOT including Geelong Library & Heritage Centre:

You can still: You cannot:
  • Browse the catalogue from home or in branch (but cannot place holds – staff can do this for you)
  • Use the library app
  • Access the internet on public PCs
  • Place holds (staff can do on your behalf)
  • Access WiFi
  • Login to eCollections that require a barcode and pin
  • Use already downloaded eCollections e.g. BorrowBox

  • Print documents

At Geelong Library & Heritage Centre, the outage means:

You can still: You cannot:
  • Use PCs (no internet)
  • Access internet on personal devices or public PCs
  • Print from Public PCs using a USB
  • Place holds themselves
(staff can do on your behalf)

  • Login to eCollections that require a barcode and pin

  • Browse the catalogue (OPACs will not function)

  • Release printing using Wireless Print

If you need to access WiFi during this time, you can do so at another library - visit our Locate page for the library nearest to you.

We're sorry for any inconvenience caused. We expect everything to resume service once the internet connection is restored, by 9am Saturday 25 February.
