Monday 9 August 2021
In line with today’s advice from the Victorian Government, we are pleased to announce that Geelong Regional Libraries’ branches and mobile libraries, and the Geelong Heritage Centre, will re-open to the public on Tuesday 10 August at the regular opening times.
The health and safety of our community and staff remains our priority as we re-open branches and resume some services. Hygiene protocols and social distancing will continue, while compulsory face masks and density limits will be in place. This means there may be some time limits on library visits to allow as many community members as possible to access our services. And of course, we ask everyone to please stay home if feeling unwell.
As required by the Victorian Government under current restrictions, our staff will ask all library visitors to present ID showing proof of address. Unfortunately we are unable to let visitors from the Melbourne area enter our libraries at this time. If you’re unable to show ID, or you are not permitted by State Government to enter our libraries, we can provide a contactless Click & Collect service.
We thank you for your patience and cooperation!
In order to comply with Victorian Government requirements, we will be asking everyone:
Return chutes at all library branches remain open 24/7.
Density limits mean that, unfortunately, some of our in-person events may be cancelled, postponed or transferred online; you will be contacted if you have booked into a session that is impacted. Most branch programs, including Story Time, Toddler Time and Baby Time sessions, will resume from Friday 13 August with limited numbers (bookings essential). We will continue to provide updates about the situation with in-person events as we receive further news from the Government about easing of restrictions.
Full details about our library service at this time, including a list of frequently asked questions and answers, can be found here.
We thank you for your continued understanding, patience and support as we re-open libraries and resume services.
