Dynamic Spoken Word Poetry in Geelong
Not your average writing workshop! With a focus on writing for performance, Australian Poetry Slam (APS) Workshops get participants excited and engaged with the writing process. Each participant will create a new piece of poetry using their own experiences, community and identity as inspiration.
These workshops teach new ways of expressing creative ideas using live performance, writing techniques, and video references.
Content Warning: APS events are for all ages and some content may not be suitable for children.
Tuesday, 6 September 2022 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm Geelong Library and Heritage Centre
This is a poetry workshop specifically concerned with the non-prescriptive form of the aubade (leave-taking, lament at parting).
After an introduction to the form by way of six poems which trace a brief history of the form and highlight its non-prescriptive nature (a contemporary poem by Charles is included), participants will be encouraged to develop their own aubade poems with support from the facilitators as well from other participants through structured supportive feedback.
