Writers' Workshop presented by Geelong Regional Libraries

Using film clips and hands on exercises, participants will leave with the tools to write or edit their novel so that it's a page turner.
In this half day workshop, we look at story structure — plot, multi-dimensional characters, motivation and conflict — as well as touching on point of view and the importance of ‘ what’s at stake?’.
Please note: Places are extremely limited and there is a $10pp registration fee for this event. If you are unable to attend for any reason please let us know at least 24 hours in advance and we will cancel your place and refund your registration fee. Playwriting: from the Concept to the Stage
In this one day workshop, you will be introduced to strategies and ideas with Janet Brown to help you move forward in your script writing project. What is the story you want to tell? Beginning with how to harness your ideas and developing a creative concept, then moving on to shaping your story with an understanding of character, dialogue and structure, you will explore the art of playwriting and different styles of working. Playwriting is an art and to get your play on stage it becomes a great collaborative adventure! What do you do with your script when you think it is finished? Writing the play is the first major step, but there is much more to understand about the journey from the page to the stage. Janet will share her industry knowledge and experience with you. Suitable for beginners and those with playwriting experience.
