Mural Brings New Life To Classic Story Book Characters

Artist Scott Jansen has recently completed a large Wonderland themed mural on Level One of the Geelong Library & Heritage Centre. The artwork was commissioned by Central Geelong Marketing to promote Storyfest which takes place in central Geelong between 3 – 15 April.

The Geelong Book Fair

The first Book Fair for 2018 will be held at Geelong West Town Hall on Friday 2, Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 March, and as in past years, there a literally thousands of books in a whole variety of genres on offer. And all it takes it takes for you to change a life is a gold coin donation and a book purchase of $2 (or just $1 for childrens books) - nothing could be easier!

Food for Fines gets ‘tonnes’ of support!

The communities of the City of Greater Geelong, Surf Coast Shire, Golden Plains Shire and the Borough of Queenscliffe and our library members demonstrated their support for those in need by donating literally ‘tonnes’ of food for the Geelong Food Relief Centre’s annual Food for Fines campaign. Almost 2 tonnes of food items were donated to the Geelong Food Relief Centre this year from the Food For Fines campaign.

Heritage Centre celebrates 100,000 visitors with local school group

The Geelong Heritage Centre celebrated the visit of the 100,000th visitor since opening in its new location at the Geelong Library & Heritage Centre two years ago. Since moving into the new building, visitation has exceeded even the most hopeful forecasts with tens of thousands of people visiting the beautifully-appointed reading room and enjoying the combination of skilled staff, the latest digital technology and a wealth of historical records that combine to bring the past alive.
